Upcoming Shows - & New Songs this Thursday at the Mothlight! 

Dear listeners,

I'll make it quick. Couple of shows coming up you should know about!

Raw new tunes coming up this Thursday 9/3 at the Mothlight, where I'll be playing an opening set for the fast-rising songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling. (A link to watch his recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert.) Doors at 8:30 ($8), music starts at 9:30.

48-hour Songwriting Residency 

During July Hannah visited Indianapolis, Indiana's Harrison Center for the Arts  to participate in their songwriter residency program. She had 48 hours to explore and try to understand the city, write a new song about her experience, and then perform it for the Harrison Center's "FoodCon" First Fridays event. Thanks to the Kickstarter backers who made it happen -- and the Brown Bag Songwriting Contest that started this whole journey -- and the friends who suggested that maybe Hannah should sing her songs in front of other people --

Kicking start!! Handmade journal preview 

Here's a sneak peak at one of the KickStarter incentives, the handmade journal.... This beautiful example was made by Erin Cook. Your journal will not be exactly the same, but will be similar in style and execution. Write your lyrics, thoughts, and poems somewhere beautiful!

This Saturday - Benefit Concert 

Joining other artists for a concert to benefit Suicide Prevention Awareness. It's all happening this Saturday, May 3, at the Creekside Taphouse in Asheville.

Come on out! I'll be playing for about 45 minutes, starting around 7, but the event goes from 2-11 pm and it's for a great cause!

The concert is being held in conjunction with Spread the Positive and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (with the Out of the Darkness Walk coming up in June 2014).

When the Man Comes Around: Johnny Cash in Story and Song

The Grey Eagle

A tribute to Johnny Cash featuring performances of his songs and readings of his stories. In the spirit of Cash, we’ll be fleshing out his music with our own local iteration/offering to the community. We hope it will be a fun evening honoring his artistry while building up and entertaining our local community. The story telling will weave throughout the performance between sets. We’ve got some great stories to tell from his own words! Charlie Faires and Ruth Vann will be reading. Featuring musical performances from Vince Junior, Karl Ruch, Hannah Kaminer, Nate Spencer, Jeremy Walters, Jen Whipple and more!
